20 years of Niclas Stiftung – a reason to look back with gratitude and look ahead with confidence. On 17 March 2006, we established Niclas Stiftung: the statutes had already been signed, and on that day we transferred the foundation's capital. However, the most important thing for us was a small private prayer service in St. Lambertus Church in Düsseldorf's old town. Everything depends on God's blessing! A lot has happened since then. We have created a small photo review, which can be found on our website: 20 years of Niclas Stiftung. Together with many supporters, we were able to finance the following educational projects in part or in full: a boarding school in Bolivia and two schools in northeast India, as well as twelve nursing training courses in southern India. Currently, a school in northeast India is being supported, and three young women are training as nurses in southern India. We cannot thank everyone personally here. On behalf of all donors, we would therefore like to mention the campaign “Düsseldorfer helfen Kindern in der Dritten Welt” (Düsseldorfers help children in the Third World) and the many large and small private donations. Our thanks go to the staff of the Steyler Stiftungszentrum (SVD Foundation Centre) and the Mission Procure in Sankt Augustin, who have always been and continue to be open to our concerns and support us in the best way. 20 years of Niclas Stiftung – that also means 20 years of project work in India and Bolivia. The project managers are doing admirable work on behalf of the people. With a great deal of perseverance, commitment and certainly many a sleepless hour, they are working with local people to create educational opportunities for those who would otherwise have no chance of receiving an education. They deserve our special thanks! All of us – donors, employees of the SVD Foundation Centre and the Mission Procure, those responsible for the projects and we, the founders – are united by the belief that education is a fundamental right and should not be a luxury for the rich. We therefore look to the future with confidence and look forward to many more years of working together! Sophie Wego & Maria Wego
